Miss America NewsThe Miss America Pageant in the NewsMiss America reunites with hometown fansThe first Miss America from Indiana began a whirlwind tour of her home state today, drawing cheers as she implored students to work hard and get involved in their communities. “You might know what you want to do and where you want to go, but do you know how you are going to get there?” Katie Stam asked high school students in her hometown of Seymour, about 60 miles south of Indianapolis. “The things you do in high school are critical to your future success, and I challenge you to take that seriously.” -- IndyStar.com

The 22-year-old University of Indianapolis student became the first Miss America winner from the Hoosier State. She drew loud applause for her rendition of "Via Dolorosa" during the talent portion of the beauty pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Stam said she had trouble sleeping one night this week while she took prescription medicine to fight the infection, but got her voice back by Thursday. "I was feeling like myself again — I will never take my health for granted," she said. --Associated PressMiss America vs. Miss USA Crystle

offense has been flying high in the playoffs and wide receiver
Larry Fitzgerald has been playing out of this world (he can
catch a pass from me any day!). But the Steeler Defense has been
kicking butt, and more importantly, you have got to love the
old-school black and gold uniforms. After all, gold is my
favorite color.

Miss America: Swimsuits Hot TopicMiss America 2009 airs live tonight on TLC, 7 p.m. CST, from The Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, NV. The all-too-darling Mario Lopez hosts. The Swimsuit competition, as usual, is a hot topic. The UK’s Daily Mail refers to our ladies as “beefy.” The Brits believe the contest is losing it’s “girl next door” identity.
