Miss Universe 2010 is Featured in Global Times, Metro Beijing

March 1, 2011 - Miss Universe 2010, Ximena Navarrete, has been featured in an article "Beauty Queen
Travels the Universe to Promote Worthy Causes" in the Global Times, Metro
Beijing. The article discusses the international pageant winner's year spent
"globetrotting in the name of splendor and worthy causes."
Sao Paulo, Brazil to Host the 2011 Miss Universe® Pageant Live on NBC
NEW YORK, NY (December 16, 2010) -- Donald J. Trump, NBC Universal and
Miss Universe Organization President, Paula M. Shugart, announced today the 60th Annual MISS UNIVERSE®
Pageant will air live from São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. The glamorous live event, featuring the most beautiful women in the universe, will air on NBC in the United States, with a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo.
"I am very pleased to announce our partnership with media conglomerate Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação and the selection of São Paulo as the host location for Miss Universe 2011," said the pageant's owner, Donald J. Trump. "Brazil is rapidly becoming an economic powerhouse and is a great place to do business. This decade, Brazil is hosting three of the greatest and most-watched worldwide events: the World Cup, the Summer Olympic Games and now, to kick it all off, Miss Universe."
"Grupo Bandeirantes is delighted that we have reached an agreement with the Miss Universe Organization to host the Miss Universe 2011 pageant in São Paulo, Brazil," said the network's president, João Carlos Saad. "We believe it is fitting for Brazil to set the stage for this glamorous event, and we look forward to showing the contestants, and the almost 200 countries around the world who watch the pageant every year, the exciting and vibrant culture of our beautiful country."
Contestants from more than 80 countries around the world will travel to Brazil for almost a month of activities leading up to the live telecast. They will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview, as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2011. This is first time in its 60-year history the Miss Universe contest will be held in Brazil.
Mexicana, Ximena Navarrete, Miss Universe 2010, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the telecast. During her reign, Navarrete has traveled the world as an advocate for HIV/AIDS education, research, and legislation. The next Miss Universe will continue this work.
Here She Comes, America's Perfect Teen, From Wales
The crowning of 16-year-old Anysha Panesar, who was allowed to enter the
America's Perfect Teen beauty pageant as an international contestant, is causing waves on both sides of the pond. A former Miss Teen Wales, she beat out 80 others for the title, winning $2,000 and an $18,000 scholarship in the process. Panesar, who hails from Llangan, Wales, some 3,500 miles from U.S. shores, says she found out about the contest while on a family vacation in Kissimmee, Fla. Families of aspiring American beauties are furious about the snub to their U.S. girls, pageant founder Michael Galanes tells London's Daily Mail. "Yes, her win caused a bit of a stir because she is British. But that is perfectly within the rules of the competition and those people are just nay-sayers," Galanes, whose toddler's pageant, Little Miss Perfect, has become a big hit. "One of the judges told me she liked Anysha because she was just a breath of fresh air."

TV Coverage of the Miss England Pageant is Back on TV
It’s great news….after an absence of 22 years of TV coverage, the Miss England
2010 contest will be back on a TV screen near you…. giving coverage of the
Search for the next contestant to represent England in the 60 th Miss World
Contest to be held on 30th October in Sanya, China.
The Active Channel (Sky Channel 281) are the giants of the Health and

with the organisers and have agreed to work together to promote a healthier

still expanding at a phenomenal rate!, “ says Houtan Odabaei, Director of
Programme Development.
"Miss England echoes The Active Channel's ethos of health & wellbeing, so we
are thrilled to have an exclusive contract to televise the competition this year.”
Miss England Organiser Angie Beasley said “I’m delighted that the public will get
the chance to see the contest on TV this year. They will be able to see for
themselves just how much the contest has changed over the years. The girls are
taking part in fitness , talent, sports and charity rounds …it’s so different
compared to the bathing beauty contest of yesteryear. We have millions of
visitors to our website throughout the year so clearly there is a lot of interest in
the event. We get girls from all ages, sizes and walks of life entering, in the hope
of representing their country, so all the support we can get is tremendous.”
The Active Channel plan to cover the entire contest over the two day finals,
including the crowning of the Miss England 2010 on Wednesday 1st September.
Miss England 2010 is taking place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole (at the
NEC) over a two-days period on the 31st August & 1st September. The event is

Hannah S & Tiffany Prom.
And to prove the girls are not just pretty faces, part of the competition involves
fundraising for the Variety Club of Great Britain in the two months leading up to
the national final . The top fund raiser will be crowned Miss Variety Club and
fast tracked through to the final 20 and she will appear at Variety Club events
throughout the following 12 months. . Great Lengths will be choosing a Great
Lengths Stunning Style award winner and styling the contestants hair with a 30
strong hair team plus a team of 20 make up artists from Helen E, the Midlands –
based cosmetic company, who will offer the winner the chance to star in Helen E

It might sound cliché, but even if
Miss Haiti doesn't go on to win the Miss Universe® pageant, her singular story of overcoming tragedy, multiple obstacles and Haiti's ruinous situation following the devastating earthquake earlier this year is something to be celebrated across the world. In an exclusive interview with Celestrellas at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas where
Sarodj Bertin, Miss Haiti, is staying in preparation for the big event on August 23, she shared her story with us: As a nine-year old, Bertin witnessed her mother's murder, an obviously traumatic experience which has shaped her outlook on life and absolute desire to succeed.

Will new Miss Russia be crowned Miss World?
Miss Russia 2009 has been chosen in Moscow. This beauty contest would
normally be just one in a series of beauty pageants if not for the
fact that recent winners have claimed the Miss World and the Miss
Universe crowns. After blondes dominated the contest in recent
years, it was time to pass on the baton on to a brunette. Sofia
Rudieva from St. Petersburg was the proud winner of the
2009 Miss Russia crown. The competition was tough among the
fifty participants who came from all over the country. But 18-year
old Sofia’s sophistication shone through.
