  • What is the First Amendment?

  • Do you think that fundraisers who claim that donations will be used for charitable purposes, but actually keep most of the donated funds should be charged with fraud? They claim the First Amendment protects them. What do you think?

  • Do you believe pornography, which is currently protected as "free speech" by Supreme Court rulings, is actually “free speech”?

  • The First Amendment in the Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. The term “separation of church and state” came from a letter by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 in which he stated that the First Amendment created a "wall of separation" between church and state. Do you agree with modern courts use of Jefferson’s separation argument to ban religious expression from public life, such as student speeches, prayer before sporting events, and removal of ten commandment signs from court houses? Why or why not?

  • The FTC's Do-not-call list has been challenged in court on grounds it violates free-speech. Are businesses hiding behind the free speech clause or are they right?
  • What do you think of "political correctness"?

  • Have you ever felt that you had to watch what views you expressed on a college campus?

  • What do you think of recent court decisions barring towns from letting residents put up nativity scenes in town courtyards, requiring courtrooms to remove ten commandment signs that have been on display for decades, and similar?
